SECTION I: Sitting in a Chair
Sitting in a chair is harder on the spine than standing or walking because there is more pressure on the disks of the spine. Many people have to frequently stand because of pressure that accumulates while sitting. Standing relieves muscular contractions that we are unaware of in a static position like sitting. Therefore, if you sit for long periods of time, it is extremely important to have good, stress-free posture with an ability to perform tasks comfortably. The lessons in the following section will help if your job involves sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time.... please sit in a chair that is flat and firm. An ordinary wooden chair would be best, or a chair with light padding. The flatter the surface the better. The height of the chair should allow your hips to be as high or higher than your knees.Do not do these lessons in a sofa, armchair or chair that is low to the ground.
